Kooindah Waters

Kooindah Waters, a residential and spa resort located on the Central Coast near Terrigal, about 90 minutes North of Sydney, is a pretty special course that challenges even the lowest of markers.

Course Architect - Craig Parry/ Ross Watson
Length - 6083m / Par 72
Signature Hole - Hole 4 - Par 3 across the water.
Course Highlight - The water carries, and natural flora and fauna.

Kooindah Waters is Matra owned and sits under the Troon Golf banner. The key to the design of this course is the use of the natural surrounds, the wetlands, the long grasses, and the natural contours. The bunkering is excellent, and blends in seamlessly with the surrounds. The wetlands are kept separate from the course under wooden sleeper walls, adding to the aesthetics of the course. There is a lot of water at Kooindah waters, and it comes into play on almost every hole, as are the strategically placed bunkers which provide a challenge to all golfers. It is soon evident that accuracy and placement are the key when playing at this course. The facilities are first rate, with practice greens, driving range, and a modern  restaurant and bar that offer views in all directions. Overall, a terrific course, pretty as a picture, and at harmony with the natural surrounds.

Bogey's Ratings

Greens - 7/10 - Excellent overall, exciting in shape, well structured, but a little patchy in spots.
Fairways - 8/10 - Exactly what you would expect from a resort style course with a lot of cart traffic across them reducing Bogey's rating.
Bunkers - 8/10 - Always in play, generally in great condition, but at times not raked. The social golfers lack of etiquette at times hacking around in them can reduce the quality.
Customer Service - 7/10 - Fair, but nothing to get excited about.
Value - 7/10 - At $75, its a steal for a course of this quality.

Overall Rating - 7.4/10 flags
