Jacks Point, Queenstown

Nestled between the 2,500 metre Remarkables Mountain Range on New Zealand's South Island to the east, and the majestic Lake Wakatipu to the west, its hard to picture a more inspiring setting for a quality golf course. This is the landscape that course architect, John Darby, has had to work with, and he has created something special.

Course Architect - John Darby
Length - 6538m / Par 72
Signature Hole - The Par 3 - 7th
Course Highlight - Tee shots back towards the Remarkables offer a one of a kind golfing experience.

Its a design based on minimum excavation, and use of the natural landscape to take the golfer on what is a scenic journey rather than a game of golf. This scenic route takes the golfer from wetlands, through rock filled hillsides, over working sheep farms, and down to the shimmering reflection of the mighty Lake Wakatipu. Each hole gives a more spectacular view of the terrain than the last. The fairways and greens were damp the day Bogey was lucky enough to play Jacks Point, but after a week of solid rain, the course held up remarkably well, and this scribe had the place to himself on what turned out to be a chilly, but sunny day. Its a course that is dependant on the weather, which can be fickle and unpredictable, it can be sunny one minute, and snowing the next, be warned, play prepared. All in all, a memorable course of exceptional beauty.

Overall Rating - 7.2/10 flags
